Soulrift Nyx — Dagger Melee Blood Mechanic
80 HP, Greater Heights quest unlock, dagger melee with Blood meter dump.
Nyx is a quest unlock character in Soulrift, unlocked by completing the quest Greater Heights (requires level 25), with 80 HP. She is the dagger melee specialist with a Blood meter mechanic — the only character in the roster with a resource management system. Role: high-risk melee DPS, glass cannon with burst potential.
Kit overview
Nyx’s identity is the glass cannon dagger fighter with a Blood meter. Her kit requires active resource management: the Blood meter fills during combat and must be spent to access her full damage potential. The 80 HP pool is the lowest shared with Reviva — she dies to the same attacks that kill supports. The kit rewards skilled play and punishes passive play.
Key stats: 80 HP, 10 M1 damage. Nationality: British (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).
Combat abilities — Normal Move Set
| Ability | Damage | Cooldown | How it works |
|---|---|---|---|
| M1 (Dagger Strike) | 10 | — | Fast melee strikes with dual daggers sourced from an M16 contract |
| Rush | 20×2 | 17.5s | Rush forwards for about 1.5 seconds. If you rush into the boss you damage them. |
| Barrage | 8×10 | 12.5s | Attack 10 times in a short range, damaging the boss repeatedly. |
| Release | Blood×1.35 | 30s | Release a burst of energy that hits the boss. You do not need to aim this ability — it automatically hits nearby enemies. |
Combat abilities — Last Stand Move Set
During Last Stand, Blood Drain -Again- plays. Her moveset gains significant damage multipliers and faster attack speed.
| Ability | Damage | Cooldown | How it works |
|---|---|---|---|
| M1 | increased speed | — | Attack speed increases during Last Stand |
| Rush | 45 | 15s | Works the same as normal Rush, but you move significantly faster and deal damage in one burst instead of two. |
| Barrage | 8×12 | 12s | Attacks 12 times (up from 10), faster and more damaging than the normal version. |
| Supernova | Blood×2.25 | 45s | Rise into the air creating a blood sphere above you, then throw it at your cursor dealing massive damage to the boss if close enough. |
Blood meter mechanic
Your Blood meter sits above your health bar. You gain blood by damaging the boss with any attack. Once enough blood has been collected, you can spend it through Release (Normal) or Supernova (Last Stand) to deal additional damage. The more blood stored, the more damage these abilities deliver.
Tips for blood management:
- Do not sit on a full meter “for later” — that is how later never comes if you hoard it.
- Aggressive play fills the meter faster. Passive players will find their Blood never reaches useful levels.
- Release does not require aiming — use it when you are close to the boss during a safe window.
Strengths
- Highest burst potential of any melee character when the Blood meter is full.
- Dagger range and mobility for repositioning between attacks.
- Blood mechanic rewards aggressive play — the more you engage, the more damage you deal.
- M1 attack deals 10 damage per strike, higher than most starters.
- No Prosthetic Arm allowed — 80 HP with −50% max HP would be 40 HP.
Weaknesses
- 80 HP is the glass in glass cannon. One mistake against high-damage mechanics is a wipe.
- Blood meter management requires active play — passive players will underperform significantly.
- No inherent sustain in the kit — no healing, no shields.
- Rush requires you to move toward the boss, which can be dangerous in certain phase transitions.
Recommended accessories
First slot: Magic Mirror from Katan. Dash cooldown reduction is mandatory for all 80 HP characters. Second slot: Badge of Vanguard (+10% melee damage). Third slot: Body Armor from Lazereth (+12% DR) — her 80 HP makes DR very efficient. Fourth slot: Flame Gauntlet from Ardale (33% burn on hit) for sustained damage between blood dumps. Fifth slot: Shock Slower from Cryogen (3× i-frames after a hit) for survivability windows.

Team comp role
Nyx is a specialist pick, not a default. She works best in coordinated groups where the team can cover for her low HP. Pair with Reviva or Clockwork for support. Do not bring Nyx to public lobbies without communication — her 80 HP requires the lobby to prioritize her survival.
In team comps: Nyx goes in the damage column alongside Sunder and Zephyr.
Quest: Greater Heights
Greater Heights requires you to reach level 25 before attempting. The quest is tied to a specific boss or mode. Complete it to unlock Nyx permanently. This is one of the four character unlock quests alongside Awakening (Clockwork), A Tundra Menace (Crystal), and Burning Soul (Scar).

Lore
Originally a secret intelligence agent for the United Kingdom. Due to a mutation at birth, she has an excellent control in blood manipulation. She never trained it formally — it was simply always there. Over time she learned what it could do, and then she became very good at it.
Clockwork is the closest thing she has to a friend, though it might be a one-sided friendship. The Conductor offered her a place to stop holding back. She did not need much convincing.
What Nyx is not
Nyx is not Reviva. Despite sharing 80 HP, Nyx is a pure damage dealer with no support tools. She cannot heal, revive, or buff. She is also not Sunder — she has mobility tools but no bulk. Prosthetic Arm on Nyx is D-tier even as a joke because 80 minus 50% is 40 HP.
Comparison to other melee
- Zephyr (110 HP, starter) — more HP and ranged slashes. Zephyr is the safer default melee.
- Sunder (125 HP, 1000 Souls) — bulk and burst. Sunder is the shop damage dealer.
- Raiden (110 HP, 4000 Souls) — similar mobility with grappling, higher HP, much later unlock.
